The Parish Hall

St. Mary Magdalen Church Hall

The Church has an adjacent hall, which is used by many of the Parish Organisations listed elsewhere on these pages. 

The hall can be hired for various events, subject to accepted bookings. At present the price is £20 per hour, with a £50 cash deposit paid in advance.  

Events which cause a disturbance to the neighbours are not acceptable, and hall users not complying may be asked to leave before the end of their booking. Fees will not be refunded.

Terms and Conditions of Use:

St. Mary Magdalen Church Hall (also called ‘The Church Hall’) is hired to outside organisations and individuals subject to the following terms:
All activities carried out at the premises of The Church Hall must be carried out with reasonable care and skill, and all reasonable and proper steps must be taken to safeguard against damage to property and/or personal injury.

Any damage to the building and/or its contents, personal injury or other matter concerning the premises must be reported to the Hall Manager at the above address as soon as possible. It shall be the responsibility of the hirer to make good any damage to the building or its contents.
St. Mary Magdalen Parochial Church Council and the Hall Manager, accept no liability in the event of personal injury or insurance claim.
All organisations/individuals that use The Church Hall must have their own liability insurance.
Smoking and the selling of Alcoholic drinks are strictly prohibited.
All wall-sockets are automatically disabled at 22:30hrs and you have until 22:45 to vacate the premises.
The premises must be left tidy andall rubbish taken away.
Ball games are restricted to the use of sponge balls or table tennis balls only, unless otherwise agreed in advance with the Hall Manager.
Dancing and dance classes are allowed in The Church Hall. However, care should be taken by the hirer to avoid damage to the floor.
No arrangements shall be made by the hirer that constitutes a commercial enterprise of any kind unless otherwise agreed.
Provision for storage of equipment, may be made by the Parochial Church Council if applied for in writing. However, it does not accept liability and reserve the right to cancel the provision giving 4 weeks written notice. Failure to comply with the PCC’s wishes will result in the removal of the equipment.
The storage or food and drink are strictly prohibited.
All fires and lights must be switched off and the building left secure. Failure to do this will result in the deposit being withheld and may incurr additional charges.

The hirer will need;
To familiarise him/herself with the Emergency Evacuation Procedure and Regulation. Also, he/she needs information regarding gas stop valve, electricity and water stop tap. This information is available on this document.
If any outside doors are to be left open for late arrivals, someone must be responsible for watching the door(s) to ensure that unauthorised persons do not enter the building.

ELECTRICAL INFORMATION
Part of the electrical installation in the hall is protected by a Residual Current Device (or RCD) which automatically switches off the supply if an earth-fault develops. The RCD is sensitive enough to offer a degree of protection against electrocution in the event of a faulty electrical appliance being connected to it. The following circuits are protected:
(a) All 13A socket outlets.
(b) Water heaters in the Ladies, Gents and Disabled Toilets.
(c) Outside Lights.
(d) Extractor Fan and Wall Heater in the Kitchen.
After the faulty equipment has been unplugged, the device may be rest by pushing the switch up. If the device cannot be rest, please contact the Hall Manager.
