Christening or Baptism
Baptisms normally happen on the fourth Sunday of the month at the 10.00 a.m. service. We are delighted that you are thinking of baptism: whether for yourself or for your child we would be very pleased to talk with you about what baptism means and how you can receive the sacrament of baptism in our churches.
Baptism is all about giving thanks to God for the gift of life and for the responsibility of bringing up children. So the service starts with a prayer of thanksgiving. However, baptism is also about making promises as to how you intend to lead your life and, if you are bringing a baby for baptism, how you intend to raise the child. So parents and godparents makes promises about how they are going help the child grow up in the Christian faith and about what they believe.
Baptisms are normally carried out in the main Sunday service, but we are prepared to discuss other arrangements if you would like.
There is no charge for a Baptism service.
For further information about Baptisms do have a look at the Church of England's website or contact the priest in charge.
Congratulations! If you are reading this then (presumably) you are planning your wedding. We hope and pray that your marriage will be life-giving and life-long, and we would very much like to be part of the celebrations if we possibly can.
Unfortunately we can't say 'Yes' to everyone but we can conduct your wedding service for you if you or your fiancé can satisfy one of the criteria below. And occasionally, even if you don't meet any of those criteria, we may still be able to help. It's always worth getting in touch with the priest-in-charge.
The other reason we may not be able to say 'Yes' straight away is if one of you has been married before. If you are in this situation, please don't think we are saying 'No', but we do need to talk with you sooner rather than later. Again, please do get in touch with the priest-in-charge
For further information about Weddings do have a look at the Church of England's websites and or contact the priest-in-charge.
