Prayer Corner

Here you will find a selection of prayers which we hope will inspire you, comfort you, or simply give you somewhere to pray.

God of peace and justice,
we pray for the people of Ukraine today.
We pray for peace and the laying down of weapons.
We pray for all those who fear for tomorrow,
that your Spirit of comfort would draw near to them.
We pray for those with power over war or peace,
for wisdom, discernment and compassion to guide their decisions.
Above all, we pray for all your precious children, at risk and in fear,
that you would hold and protect them.
We pray in the name of Jesus, the Prince of Peace.

A Prayer for Libya

Lord Jesus, you’re familiar with grief, you know what it is to weep with those who are suffering.

You’re close to the brokenhearted and comfort those who mourn.

Devastating flooding has led to losses beyond measure for the people of Libya.

With so many thousands affected, help us to see beyond the numbers to real communities and families whose lives have been upturned.

We pray that you would strengthen those who are still fighting to survive, and the rescue workers trying to save them.

We pray that you would console those who fear the worst as they wait for news.

We pray that you would be with all who are traumatised and deeply grieving.

Show us, Lord, how to serve you by helping our neighbours in Libya.

When we are daunted by the scale of the disaster, inspire us with your Spirit that we may know how to make a difference.

We thank you for the work of aid agencies on the ground and for all who give what they can to help save lives and support survivors.

You’re close to the brokenhearted Lord. Be close to the people of Libya, we pray.

God, our refuge in times of trouble.
You told us to pray always and not to lose heart.
We pray for our neighbours in Morocco.

We pray for you to comfort those affected by the earthquake.
For those who have lost loved ones, homes and all they know.
Bring solace in their grief, healing in their pain and help in their time of need.

Let those in need know they are not alone;
May your light shine through the darkness.
And bring hope and strength.

We pray for provision for communities
who now face an uncertain future.
Open our hearts,
May they be full of compassion.

Draw close to those who need you today.

In the name of Jesus,

A Prayer for the Sick

Holy Father,

Holy God we commend into thy safe keeping all those who are sick and in pain.

Be with them in the dark hours to comfort them, to support them and to speak peace to their souls.

Grant to each one a happy issue out of their affliction.

And give to all those who care for them, wisdom and skill, sympathy and patience.

These things we ask in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord.

The Creation

Father of creation:
You made all things through love
You spoke with authority and life sprang into being
You made us in your wonderful image to be stewards of your world. Forgive us, Lord:
When we have failed to reflect you
When we have lived with selfish intention, placing our own needs above those of others
When we have misused or polluted creation
When we have acted in a way that has caused disadvantage and hurt.
Help us, Lord, to reflect you:
By being faithful stewards of your creation
By showing love and concern for the world.
May our actions produce lasting fruit,
for the sake of your Kingdom
